I create landscape paintings that transcend conventional understandings of space, time, and nature. My work has a luminous quality to it, combined with its own idiosyncratic, spatial logic and densely layered compositions. These are imagined terrains where perception and possibility shift, exceeding the traditions they engage with through their own enigmatic internal structure.
My process begins with a series of small drawings. They eventually translate to an oil monotype process, where I paint the compositions on large sheets of plexiglass and use my own body weight to create an image transfer. Often unpredictable, these initial layers tend to guide how I approach the more intentional stages of direct painting. Then, the work is mounted onto a wooden panel and brought to its final stage. The entire process can take several months until the painting feels complete.
