I sit disconnected, disengaged, detached and numb, as acts of inhumanity
occur - anger, cruelty, death, fear, greed, hatred, indifference, injustice,
intolerance, uncontrolled power and war confront me. I read the newspaper.
I talk on the phone. I listen to the radio. I watch television. I utilize the computer.
I sit in a room and everyone is talking but me.
My interests are in the human condition. The works are symbolic representations
of us and the world in which we live. Objectivity is evident in the structure of the
pieces, but this apparent detachment is a paradox relative to the highly charged
content.
I sit disconnected, disengaged, detached and numb, as acts of inhumanity
occur - anger, cruelty, death, fear, greed, hatred, indifference, injustice,
intolerance, uncontrolled power and war confront me. I read the newspaper
and perceive me. I talk on the phone and converse with me. I listen to the
radio and hear me. I watch television and see me. I utilize the computer and
it interacts with me. I sit in a room and no one is listening but me.
