My work throws viewers into art history, where they can transcend their bodies and move into the infinite. My understanding and interest in the body—whether clothed or unclothed—through my experiences in fashion and
theater have hugely influenced the direction of my painting practice. My deep desire is in engaging with the eternal ‘now’ by incorporating imagery that conjures both the familiar and the unknowable.
Drawing on tropes from art history and literature, my work aims to document the raw joy and sorrow of being human. I use life drawing as well as personal experience, queer culture, marriage, motherhood, and friendships as subjects for my works. I hope to capture the transcendent pleasure found in the corporeal form, while simultaneously addressing all that paintings hold within them. It is ultimately a love affair with painting that I depict in each embrace of soft flesh or lounging figure on a lawn.
