The house represents a point of intersection between the world of
man and nature and occupies the territory between existence and
imagination, where utopian notions and reality collide. The act of
building is an attempt to synthesize these realms. Attached to a
place of one’s own are points of connection and disconnection,
inclusion and exclusion, aloneness and loneliness. The attempt
to combine two opposing worlds leads to the inevitable discovery
that perfection is unattainable.
