Painting is a means for me to say something. It’s a way to talk about struggle and survival and to process information. I see my paintings as self portraits, they reflect what’s going on currently, filtered and arranged through my thoughts and feelings. They are a mixture of the ebb and flow of my inner life and the social and political events of the outside world.
These paintings focus on relationships and the complex and nuanced interconnection and interdependence of things. With every painting I start with a sense of uncharted territory. The excitement of painting is moving forward with an idea, feeling what I want to say and how I want to say it.
