My gouache paintings are glimpses into portals through time, deeply influenced by the single-point perspective and geometric architecture of Mughal miniature paintings. Through these works, I build and rebuild moments in time, revisiting the past and envisioning futures yet to unfold, in order to explore how these narratives shape my current reality.
The spaces depicted in this series are often inhabited by my past selves; here I must learn to coexist with the ghosts of who I used to be. Each painting functions as a map, guiding my thoughts and actions in this world and reminding me that to be in true community with others, I must first cultivate a sense of community within myself. In this way, my work becomes a journey of reconciliation, weaving together fragments of memory and trauma to build a space of refuge where past wounds find resolution and peace.
