Mixing several stories into one composition that feels plausible as a single moment in time is a signature of my recent work. I am not telling one story precisely, rather I’m describing the feeling of being within several different narratives at once, a perspective that is shifting and fluid and particular to this moment in time. My practice focuses on the condition of being in perpetual juxtaposition with other spaces; as such, I work simultaneously with diverse mat-erials as a venue to explore painting and to allow one idea to become several.

Color and patterning constitute the first chapter in a layering of techniques that are in conversation with figurative realism. Sometimes my artworks are double-sided, angling two experiences in constant proximity; other times they have a cut-out opening in the picture plane, inviting the outside world in and allowing a kinetic evolution that yields a score of unpredictable relationships. In our tumultuous political and social climate, my work presents not just one notion of reality, but the possibility of a multitude of simultaneous truths.
