My paintings are private fictions. I source imagery from a
collection of personal photographs and drawings, and I paint
at night by the light of a projector. Interiors, adolescent figures,
windowscapes, and flora overlay and dissolve in scenes of
nostalgia and impermanence. My work thrives in the midst of
the picture taking shape; color is a central protagonist in my
reverie. I am heavily influenced by my daily surroundings in
Los Angeles and its intrinsic relationship to desire and artifice.
My consciousness is hyper-saturated, and I paint to make this
psychic space visible. Painting is, for me, a space of freedom, and
I work to achieve an imperfect harmony of moment, image, and
emotion.
