My paintings' vocabulary comes from an urban landscape of graphic signs, commercial architecture, and digital displays. I'm particularly drawn to sites that are compromised or in transition, such as a multi-use storefront, a halfway gentrified neighborhood or a wall that's been repainted one too many times. I use banal materials and forms that reference the quotidian, yet the work resists legibility or function. The result is a compressed archive of observation, memory and desire.
