There is a calculated spontaneity to layering poured paint, a tense opposition of color and practice. As the painting evolves the act of over-pouring becomes increasingly risky. The accumulation of colors and shapes in sparse fields of washed colors become figures or groups looking at something, somewhere for some reason. Questions of belonging, acceptance and placement keep me interested in producing these images.
