Through my paintings, I aim to transcend borders and barriers, offering a lens for viewers to explore the complexities of human existence and societal structures. Using parody, pastiche, and imagery sourced from magazines, the Internet, literature, and art history, my work offers a satirical perspective on painting as a symbol of power and exclusion. My art resists easy categorization; it draws from a rich multicultural background rooted in my Cuban heritage and is enriched by my experiences living in various countries. In my paintings, conventions, traditions, and influences serve not as limitations but as catalysts, allowing heterogeneous, multilayered, and complex narratives to emerge that reflect back both the subject matter and my artistic process.
Ultimately, my work mirrors contemporary society’s complexities, and therefore challenges viewers to confront uncomfortable truths and engage in critical reflection. It embodies the essence of my artistic vision and the diverse tapestry of human experience.
