I have had long hair since high school and it has become a part of my identity. According to Eastern culture, a young woman's long hair is associated with life force, sexual energy, growth, and identity. In my most recent work, I use long hair as a metaphor to move beyond the cultural concept of a single point in time and examine a woman's complete life cycle.

The idea of my graphite hair drawings is about humor, beauty and repulsion. To me, long hair not only looks beautiful, but sometimes it can be very repulsive in particular settings such as hair in the hamburger, egg, wineglass, cigarette, toothpaste and sink. I combine hair and every day objects to exaggerate the two different visual impacts of hair through a surrealistic approach.
